How to Backing up your IIS 6.0 Metabase

In IIS 6.0 we can take backup in MetaBase.xml file but in previous versions all information stored in registry. You can take manual backup from with the help of Backup/Restore Configuration option. All the files are store in \WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv.

Step-by-step configuration

Step 1

Click on Start, then Programs, then Load IIS  from Administrative tools and clicking on IIS Manager.

Step 2

Right click on your computer name, then All tasks and then click on “Backup/Restore Configuration”

Step 3

Click on backup button for backup.

Now give configuration backup name which you want, like manual Backup. (you can protect your backup by using “Encrypt backup using password” control.

Step 5

Manual backup has been done, now you can restore that backup with the help of Restore button option. Before going to restore you just select your desire backup file.

Store path could be like that:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\Manual backup.MD0
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv\Manual backup.SC0
