Microsoft with the launch of Microsoft Word 2007 also gave birth to new document file extension Docx which is never used in previous versions.Microsoft Word previous version user are not able to open Docx file which is only compatible to Microsoft Word 2007. This tutorial will teach the way to open Microsoft word 2007 files without installing complete Microsoft Word 2007.
Following are the three suggested options to open Docx files.
Option-1
Install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats to open docx files without installing Microsoft Word 2007. By installing the Compatibility Pack in addition to Microsoft Office 2000, Office XP, or Office 2003, you will be able to open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. The Compatibility Pack can also be used in conjunction with the Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003, Excel Viewer 2003, and PowerPoint Viewer 2003 to view files saved in these new formats.
Option-2
if you are the Firefox user then install OpenXML Viewer extension. After the installation you are not allowed to edit the files but the good point is all the docx file format document can be viewed in your browser with all formatting and layout preserved.
Option-3
Upload the file to Docx Converter. In short order you’ll receive an e-mail with a link to converted version of the file.
