Network Repeater

A network repeater is a device work at physical layer use to extend the range of network by boosting the signals. In other words network repeater is a device which regenerates the signals. Network repeater can be wired or wireless. In wired network when the wire length exceeds more then the standard length, signal gets weak and there is a chance of loss and degrades performance of the network. Wireless network signals are propagate by wireless router, if the router is placed on ground floor, person sitting on the top floor receive weak signal, wireless repeater should be place at those location where the wireless signal lose their strength. Active hub repeats the receiving signal on every port and known as multi-port repeater. All the higher level devices such as switch, router etc don’t incorporate the function of repeater.
