Backup of Windows XP



When you are tired and come to the home and want to do some important office work or any assignment at home on your computer. But, when you start computer, Ooops you are angry to see that your windows is not functioning properly. To be on the safe side take backup of system files so you will not face the situation discuss above.

Following are the steps to take backup of windows XP

Press start to open the windows Menu bar.

“Click Run”, “Enter ntbackup in run dialog box”, “Click Ok”

Backup wizard starts as shown below, the check box is on by default.

“Uncheck the check boc”,  “Click on Advance Mode as shown below in blue text”

“Backup Utility Screens Appears” ,”Click Backup Wizard  (Advance)”

You will see the wizard screen as shown below in the figure.

We want to backup only the System files or status of the System, so we select “Only back up the System State data”

Mention the location where you want to keep the backup and enter the name, i always use date as the name is depends upon you what name you suggest but keep in mind it should be meaningful.

The wizard information process is complete now press finish to start back up the files

Backup starts

Backup in Progress, it will take 2 minutes maximum because we are not saving entire system data.

Backup process is completed, now you can see the backup file on your hard disk.

To view the status, click status report of the backup
